COMMISSION A PORTRAIT
A portrait that starts where a photo ends
I work from photos. Most people have many. It's okay to send them as jpegs.
If I get a chance to meet the pet, that is the best. That way I can see the color of the fur eyes, etc, and, of course, observe the personality, a critical element. If a pet-to-person meeting isn't possible, speaking with the owner can fills in those personal details for me. If I do meet the pet, I can take photos to augment the process.
Next, I do sketches. I begin the painting when those are approved. The price depends on the size and complexity, which we can talk about. I work anywhere from 10x10 to 30x40, but I'm flexible. I can help you explore what would best capture your pet and fit into the space you have in mind to display the painting. I usually work with acrylics on gallery wrapped canvases, the advantage being that framing is not necessary. I also do watercolor and pen and ink sketches.
So much is negotiable. It's your painting, and I want you to be happy!
